At Home Consultation

About This Service

An at-home veterinary consultation is an appointment to assess your pet's health, whether it's a routine preventive check-up to catch early signs of disease, or a specific concern such as illness, injury, behavioural change, or ongoing medical management. We bring the full examination to your home, calm, unhurried, and away from the stress of a clinic, and finish with an individualised plan for treatment or ongoing wellness.

At Home Consultation

What's Included & How It Works

Our vet arrives at your home and reviews your pet's history along with the specific concerns or wellness goals for the visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Whenever you want a vet to assess your pet without the stress of a clinic visit. That covers preventive check-ups for healthy pets, ongoing monitoring for senior pets, and reactive visits for specific concerns: appetite or weight changes, lethargy, an injury, a lump, a cough, mobility issues, behaviour changes, or ongoing management of a known condition. If you're not sure whether your concern fits, give us a call and we'll point you to the right service.

We can collect blood samples on the day and send them to an external lab, results typically come back within a few days. Imaging (X-ray, ultrasound) and more advanced diagnostics need a referral; we'll coordinate that with you and your regular vet if it's the right next step.

Often yes. If the issue is something we can treat in the home, pain relief, an injection, fluids, dressing a wound, we can start treatment during the visit. Anything more involved (surgery, hospitalisation) we'll arrange a referral.

We'll discuss your pet's vaccination status as part of preventive care planning (what they're due for and when), but we don't administer vaccines at the visit. If your pet is due, your regular vet or a clinic that stocks vaccines is the right place. We're happy to refer you if you don't have a usual vet.

A Quality of Life consultation is specifically for end-of-life decisions and palliative care planning. A Behavioural Consultation is a longer, dedicated assessment for ongoing behaviour issues. An At Home Consultation is for everything else: a routine check-up, a new concern, or ongoing medical management.

When your pet is ageing or living with a serious illness, it can be hard to know whether their quality of life is still good enough. This consultation is a calm, unhurried conversation and examination at home, where our vet assesses your pet's comfort, dignity, and day-to-day experience, and helps you decide what the right next step looks like. For some families that's palliative care to keep their pet comfortable for longer; for others, it's the clarity that it's time to say goodbye.
