Quality of Life Consultation
Helping you know when it's time — without pressure

About This Service
When your pet is ageing or living with a serious illness, it can be hard to know whether their quality of life is still good enough. This consultation is a calm, unhurried conversation and examination at home, where Dr. Jina assesses your pet's comfort, dignity, and day-to-day experience — and helps you decide what the right next step looks like. For some families that's palliative care to keep their pet comfortable for longer; for others, it's the clarity that it's time to say goodbye.

Dr. Jina Song
DVM, University of Melbourne · PhD, University of British Columbia · CAETA Certified · 10+ years experience
Dr. Jina is a compassionate mobile veterinarian serving Melbourne, with a special focus on end-of-life care, palliative medicine, and helping families navigate some of the most difficult moments with their beloved pets. After spending years in busy emergency and general practice, a move to mobile veterinary care felt like a natural fit — more time with each patient, less stress for animals, and a deeper connection with the families we serve.
Frequently Asked Questions
Most families book when something has shifted: mobility is declining, appetite is off, good days are becoming less frequent, or they just aren't sure anymore. If you're already asking the question, it's usually the right time.
Not unless we genuinely believe it's the kindest option. We'll share our clinical view honestly, but the decision is always yours. There's no pressure in either direction.
If after the consultation your family decides it's time, Dr. Jina can proceed with euthanasia at the same visit — no need to book a second appointment.
A Quality of Life consultation is a one-off assessment to help you decide what comes next. Palliative care is ongoing support for pets who aren't at the end but need help staying comfortable.
